If you are interested in buying and reading my new book "The Crystal of Dreams", (a historical fantasy about time travel and friendship spanning two centuries in Sudbury Massachusetts), please see a ist of local booksellers here or buy it online at Amazon or Lulu.

I just (November 2007) received a Moonbeam Award for my book, taking the bronze in the Intermediate/Middle Grade Fiction category.  Full details here

Whats New (Summer 2006): Slide shows of our trip to South Africa with our good friends the Fischer-Baldwin family of Dar es Salaam, and a slide show of our  home addition

What's New (Summer 2005)?: We've begun our Home Addition.  Fantastic piece by Garrison Keillor here.  He is our era's Mark Twain.  And see what happens when our dog Oslo, a decent Norwegian-American Democratic dog,  is offered a George W Bush chew toy to play with.

Earlier stuff:  The Hospital Clown troup has a new website designed by the talented professionals at Backrow Design.  I've added password protection to the personal stuff like family pictures.  If you want to gain access go to the login page.

My brother-in-law also has a site here: http://www.jacknewton.net And my wife Christine's site has a site for her web designer business.

Some new stuff added July 2003, including our trip out West.  And I've begun tracking some of my favorite obscure music recordings, as many friends have asked for my Musical Recommendations And hey, much to my surprise I took first place in the Lowell Fiddle & Banjo contest last year, in the category "Banjo Other Styles".  I played "Georgia Camp Meeting", which I learned from Alan Jabour's CD of Henry Reed.

Our [unelected] administration's unilateral invasion and occupation of Iraq is now costing us over $1B a week.  Meanwhile homeland security is neglected and underfunded, the economy sputters, and our international standing is in tatters.  Please donate to the Kerry campaign to help bring about 'regime change' here at home.

Another thing that Ive been doing for a while now is volunteering as a hospital clown in the pediatrics departments at area hospitals, mainly Mass General.  I am doing this as part of a wonderful local group run by Jeannie Lindheim.  If you live in the Boston area and want to get involved, contact me.

In June and July of 2001, we went on a fascinating family adventure trip to Peru!  We visited both the ancient Inca cities of the high Andes as well as the tributaries of the Amazon.  Check out the photography and travelogue at my Peru Site.

Also, I include here my most current resume

Check out a couple funny sites I enjoy.  The Onion for political and social satire.  Tom Tommorrow's This Modern World for some of the best political cartooning anyone is doing these days.

When I was 21 and straight out of UCONN in Storrs, CT, I applied for the Peace Corps. Wanting to use my college French and have a bit of an adventure while perhaps giving back some of what I had been lucky enough to have, I asked for Francophone Africa. I was sent to Senegal, to a small village 2 hour motorcyle ride from the nearest paved road, in the far north by the Mauritanian border.  Read all about it, and look at my old pictures of life in the Peace Corps
