Machu Picchu

We left Cusco on an early morning bus, caught the 'backpacker' train at Ollantaytambo for the 1 1/2 hour train ride alongside the ice-blue Rio Urubamba to Aguas Calientes. From Aguas we took a shuttle bus up a series of switchbacks to the edge of Machu Picchu.

Machu Picchu struck me as the most impressive and sublime blending of human architecture and natural setting I have ever experienced.
